What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants replace both the root and the visible part of the tooth, providing a stable and long-lasting solution that forms a connection with your jawbone. They are widely regarded as the gold standard for replacing missing teeth.

Types of Implants

  • Single tooth implant crowns
  • Multiple tooth implant bridges
  • Implant-retained dentures

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Scan

We take a 3D CBCT scan in-house to allow your implantologist to accurately assess suitability and plan your treatment for dental implants. This allows construction of a virtual 3D model of your teeth and jawbone to assess quantity/quality of remaining bone and proximity to important structures.

Long-Term Investment

With proper care, implants can last many years and significantly improve quality of life.

Implant Maintenance

Dental implants require additional oral hygiene measures at home to keep them healthy. We will regularly review the health of your implant, and provide advice for at home care to optimise its longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are implants safe?

Yes. Implants are a well-established and predictable treatment, which use the same titanium that has been used in orthopaedic joint replacements for years.

Am I suitable for implants?

Most patients are, but this depends on bone, gum and general health factors.

How long does the process take?

Typically several months, allowing time for healing and integration between different stages.

Do implants feel like natural teeth?

Yes. They are designed to look, feel and function like your own teeth.

Do implants require additional cleaning at home?

Definitely! Oral hygiene practices around implants directly affects the risk of implant complications and implant longevity.

How long does an implant last?

Dental implants are relatively new and so studies are ongoing. Evidence suggests that 95% of single tooth implant crowns last 10 years and 80% last 20 years.
